PRODUCTION FACILITIES

Put in place to support artist production, Gallery 44's photographic facilities feature both traditional and digital facilities. As the only surviving publicly accessible wet darkroom in the city, we continue to support and embrace the traditions of analog photography, as well as incorporate new digital technologies into our facilities. 

Our Facilities Include:

- Epson Perfections V700 iMac scanning station
- 9 Omega englarger stations
- 1 Durst Laborator 138 S (with various condensers)
- NEW! PVC sinks (48"x102")
- Various sized easels and specialty lenses
- Archival print washers and drying racks
- Dry mount press (up to 20x24)
- Copy Stand
- Matt Cutter
- Rental Lockers for storage
- 340 Square foot semi-private Shooting Studio
- Kitchen area

Fixed monthly darkroom studio rentals (for those with their own englargers) are also available - contact staff regarding vacancies.

RESOURCE CENTRE

Instituted in 1985, Gallery 44's Resource Centre provides artists, writers, curators, educators, students and the general public with resources on contemporary Canadian photography. Our holdings include photography books and technical manuals, periodicals, exhibition catalogues and an artist slide file comprised of work by contemporary Canadian photographers.

The resource centre also includes the Online Database of our Exhibition History and most recently the addition of two NEW SCANNING STATIONS featuring the HASSELBLAD IMACON 949 and EPSON PERFECTION V700.

Please note: In addition to the initial membership fee, members pay hourly fees for rentals in the darkroom and digital stations.
Rates are as follows:

DARKROOM RENTAL
FULL members
$6/hour, with a maximum of $24/day and $120/month
FACILITIES members
$7/hour, no maximum charge per day or month
Dry Mount Press, Copy Stand, Matte Cutter, and other post production facilities are free to members.

IMACON RENTAL
Any Gallery 44 member after completing an orientation
$20/hour, no maximum charge per day or month

EPSON RENTAL
Any Gallery 44 member after completing an orientation
$10/hour, no maximum charge per day or month
